Compost Pass Information & PDF Application

FEE IS $30 FOR THE ANNUAL COMPOST PASS.  

Do to increased staffing costs at the site, the town had to raise the fee to cover that increase.

Compost Site Location/Directions: 

Payne & Dolan Quarry: 
CTH VV East to Center Oak Rd. 
Left on Center Oak Rd to Plainview Rd. 
East or right on Plainview Rd. 2.9 miles 
 

Hours: Saturday 9 am to 4 pm and Monday 4 pm to 8 pm.  April thru Thanksgiving,

 

Compost Site Entrance: 
N80W25920 Plainview Rd. 
Pass is needed and can be obtained at the Merton Town Hall (see below for the application as well) 
Guidelines

The compost site is for residential yard waste only.  No commercial use is allowed.  Do not bring trash, junk or construction materials.  No trucks larger than a pick-up truck can be used for pick-up or dumping materials.  Only one vehicle at a time will be admitted per permit.  You may take at no additional charge finished compost and wood chips from the site when the material is available.

 

This site accepts: leaves, grass clippings, brush and branches.

  • Leaves

  • Grass Clippings

  • Yellow Mustard Will Not Be Accepted for Compost

  • Brush - Twigs and Branches Less than 5" Diameter 

  • No Tree Stumps

Pick Up: 

  • Compost 

  • Mulch 

  • Wood Chips 

Guidelines for Compost Site: 

  • No commercial use allowed

  • No landscape timbers, railroad ties, or construction lumber

  • No children on any piles and dogs must be on a leash 

  • No trucks larger than a pickup truck and only residential trailers

DO cover your load with tarp (County Ordinance 346.94 or pay a fine of $114)
